Open days are organized throughout the year at farms equipped with barn dryers to discover their facilities, practices and feedback.

Our training

We offer training throughout the year on barn drying, bale drying, multi-product drying, self-construction, and modernization of existing tools.

Study trips

Every two years, a group of farmers travels for a week to discover new techniques. This year, we are going to the Netherlands to learn about hay drying during the week of September 7th to 13th.

Exchange groups

Groups of farmers meet 2 to 3 times a year to exchange information on harvesting and drying techniques, meadows, and economic results.

Drying hay in round or square bales produces high-quality forage thanks to controlled ventilation of the bales after harvest. This technique requires rigorous technical procedures both in the field and in the dryer.

Multi-product flatbed drying allows a wide variety of materials (grains, biomass, forage) to be dried thanks to forced ventilation through a suitable perforated platform.

Advantages of drying

The nutritional benefits of dried hay

Dried hay retains high nutritional value thanks to the preservation of sugars and proteins from the grass, improving the quality of rations and the performance of animals.

Impact on milk quality

A diet based on dried hay improves the quality of milk: richness in protein, better cheese yield and more typical and natural dairy products.

Promoting the health of the herd

Dried hay allows for feeding without fermented fodder, reducing health risks and promoting the digestive and overall health of the herd.

 The dryer was added to the system in 2016 when we switched to organic farming with the aim of having quality fodder, particularly sanitary quality related to our raw milk processing activity.

 We wanted to increase our milk production for the processing facility and needed a dry ration to limit health risks. Thanks to the dryer and careful consideration of feed intake, we increased consumption from 28 liters to 32-35 liters, depending on the quality of the forage throughout the year.
