Description

Digital training: understanding and sizing a forage drying project

This online training course offered by SEGRAFO is designed for farmers and farm workers considering installing a forage dryer on their farm. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles of forage drying and helps identify the technical, agronomic, and economic conditions necessary for a successful project. Organized into virtual classrooms, it serves as a crucial first step in designing a drying system tailored to each farm.

Target audience

This training is designed for cattle, goat, sheep, and horse farmers, as well as agricultural workers and farm employees wishing to develop or study a forage drying project on their farm. It is aimed at those in the planning or preliminary stages of such a project who want to better understand the technical and organizational challenges associated with this type of installation.

Training objectives

The objective of this training is to enable participants to understand the fundamental principles of forage drying and master its technical basics. It aims to identify the conditions for a project's success, adapt harvesting practices and pasture systems, understand ventilation and air heating solutions, and grasp the elements necessary for sizing an installation. It also allows participants to identify the key technical, economic, and organizational considerations essential for the project's success.

Organization and procedure

The training takes place from Thursday, June 18th to Tuesday, July 7th, in the form of 5 online virtual classes representing a total of 10 hours of training. The sessions are held in the morning from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on the following dates:
